U.S.A. Soccer news: Beasley and DeMerit

Today is just going to be one of those quick round up days with a few tasty opinions thrown in to give it a little bit of the spice.

DaMarcus Beasley has now seen action in two consecutive games for Rangers and has started both. Beasley has had an assist on one goal and played a part in setting up another in a league match that he started over the weekend. There is speculation that this may be an attempt to boost Beasley's market value ahead of the transfer window but at the end of the day who cares. Beasley is playing and appears to be playing pretty well at the moment. He is a dark horse, at the moment, to make the World Cup roster but he should not be counted out. He has been in the national team picture for the past 7 years but is still only 28 years old and he plays a position that currently doesn't have much depth. Whether with Rangers or another club, Beasley will need to see a lot of game action to get back into the good graces of Bob Bradley in order to make the World Cup. It's still possible.

In England, Jay DeMerit has completed his recovery and returned to the Watford starting line-up this past weekend. This is great news for both DeMerit and the United States. With Oguchi Onyewu sidelined DeMerit is the default starting center back alongside Carlos Bocanegra and will hold onto that if Onyewu is not full strength next June. Maybe the three month break will actually provide DeMerit with some much needed rest that will pay off this summer.
