Davies released from hospital; Does Beasley have a shot at the World Cup?

Davies Released From Hospital

U.S. national team striker Charlie Davies has been released from the hospital in Washington nearly four months after suffering serious injuries in an automobile accident. Davies has had multiple surgeries to correct the broken bones that he suffered in the crash and is now looking ahead to months and months of rehabilitation.

Davies presence will surely be missed on the field where he had started to establish himself as one of the most vital cogs in the U.S.A. attack. Off the field, Davies release from the hospital is great news for Charlie and his family.

Does DaMarcus Beasley Have a Shot at the World Cup?

I know, I know. This may be a bit premature but it feels like a topic worth talking about so here it is. DaMarcus Beasley has come out of the wilderness and has now appeared in two consecutive games for Rangers in Scotland after not featuring at all earlier in the season. So does Beasley actually have a reasonable chance at making the World Cup roster? I'd have to say that the answer to that question is entirely in the hands of Beasley himself.

Beasley is a player who was one of the top 3 or 4 most important American players not too long ago, so it's hard to believe that a return to form would not earn a spot on the roster. I know it's hard to look at 2 appearances and say that he is ready to regain his spot on the team but those appearances mean the world to Beasley right now. Up until 2 weeks ago, the last time Beasley took the field in a competitive match was the Confederations Cup group match against Brazil and we all know how that one went. That is why I'm looking at these two matches as the possible return of DMB. He still has a long, long way to go to get real consideration from Bob Bradley but there is time for it to happen. It's all in Beasley's court, let's see what he makes of it.
