Castillo, Holden and Clark called in for Denmark match

The time has finally come for both Edgar Castillo and the legions of fans who have been flooding the message boards in expectation for his arrival. Castillo will likely earn his first cap as an American on Wednesday agianst Denmark and could even earn the start after Jonathan Bornstein's poor game against Slovakia Saturday. Ricardo Clark and Stuart Holden were also called in following the Houston Dynamo's 2-0 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy in the MLS semi-final on Friday night. Clint Dempsey, Chad Marshall and Steve Cherundolo were dropped from the roster to make room for the aforementioned players.

Wednesdays match should be an interesting one for a number of reasons. The biggest one being the possible inclusion of Castillo in the lineup and the chance to see how his style fits into the American system. The U.S.A. will also have to play this match without Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey who are the players who control most of the offensive flow. This is a big chance for Stuart Holden and Benny Feilhaber to takeover those roles and be the creative forces on a team that looked far too predictable over the weekend. The fact that Jose Torres will not be making the trip puts more pressure on Holden and Feilhaber and should also provide Sacha Kljestan and Robbier Rogers with another chance to impress Bob Bradley.

I'll check back in tomorrow with the players that I would like to see get the start and which players I'm hoping don't (one rhymes with Sweaty Bronson and the other rhymes with Teeth Fierce). See you then.
