The U.S. Soccer Federation, or Sunil's Gang, has announced that they have finalized a match with Denmark scheduled for November 18th in Aarhus. Denmark has also recently qualified for the World Cup and will be a good test for the United States against high level competition on an International fixture date. This match up is also further proof that Sunil Gulati and Bob Bradley are going to be having this squad match up with quality competition in the build up to next summers feature presentation. This game might also provide Bradley a chance to bring in some European based players who have not been in the national teams plans of late. Players like Eddie Johnson, DaMarcus Beasley, Maurice Edu, Jeremiah White (who plays with Benny Feilhaber at Aarhus) and Freddy Adu. This game might also be a chance for Jermaine Jones to either play or just get called into the national team camp to get a feel for the players and the coaches. Jones will be returning from a long lay off and might still be recovering from the broken leg that has been so troubling for him recently.
In other news, Jay DeMerit's infected eye may require surgery if it does not start to show signs of improvement. This is a cautionary tale of what can go wrong when contacts get angry and fight back at their masters. Although an eye infection is very serious and sounds awfully painful, I just can't get over the fact that it all started when he managed to cut his eye while putting in his contact.
Oh, Sal Zizzo is out for about 9 months after tearing an ACL. I can't think of Sal Zizzo without thinking of the Jerky Boys and Frank Rizzo. Loved it.
